I have been in love with the season of autumn since I can remember. There was always something so different about the changing of summer into fall that made me happy! The list could go on for hours, but if you’re in the same boat I’m in, nothing is better than apple-picking, sweater weather, being able to see your breath just a LITTLE bit in the morning when you step outside with a coffee, and the colors….the colors are something that warm you from the inside like a little furnace! Not only do the leaves take on all kinds of striking shades, but the foods and the decor on homes starts to mimic those shades as well….
The smell of bread and pies that don’t get made during the other seasons start to permeate the air. Cinnamon is out in full force along with nutmeg and cloves, and there is no mistaking those scents! You cannot, of course, leave out the pumpkins and gourds, the dried stalks of Indian corn that are showing off the burgundies and golds and rustic oranges in their paint pallets, and the fact that the sun sets a little earlier in the evenings meaning sweaters and jackets are back in town ๐
Now then, what in the world does this have to do with anything? Well…due to life throwing its curveballs, a few years back everything got flipped upside down for me (more on that later), and the chance presented itself for me to try and do what it is I love to do for a living. This became the big question. WHAT..do I do? I enjoy all kinds of things such as baking, painting, and quilting, but how do you turn that sort of thing into a living? The answer I came back to over and over again was to do it by sharing what I love to do! Yes I like to bake and create things that are beautiful for my home, BUT, if it is related to seasonal elements, I LOVE to do it. If you put me in front of a project or recipe involving Halloween, or Back-to-school, or Thanksgiving….I am smiling the entire time I’m working on it. THAT’S the answer….where your heart is happiest, and mine just happens to be that way in a flurry of leaves and apples…and witches, too!!!
